However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we evaluated the i3+ does not have any obstacle-avoidance features and therefore it could get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and it may have trouble navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to rug.

In our tests the i7+ performed more agile and faster than our runner-up, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, though, is its self-emptying dustbin that eliminates a major source of maintenance and cuts down on recurring costs.
We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. Once connected we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and guide you through your home. However, it lacks the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, including our top picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. As a result, it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it frequently runs out of battery power before returning to its base.
